Cabarrus County
Cabarrus County is located in the Southern
Piedmont area of North Carolina just one county
north of the South Carolina line. Cabarrus
County houses the cities of Kannapolis and
Concord, the county seat, as well as the towns
of Mt. Pleasant, Midland, and Harrisburg.
Additionally, Cabarrus County is located
adjacent to the Charlotte metropolitan area.
This location offers residents access to many
highways, attractions, and centers of work and
education.
There
are over 130,000 people in Cabarrus County who
take advantage of the many technological
advances the area has to offer. Cabarrus
County’s location puts residents within minutes
of a regional and international airport, an
Amtrak station and city bus line, one of the
nation’s largest centers for NASCAR, and the
shopping Mecca, Concord Mills.
The Concord Regional Airport, along with flights
in and out of the area, is now equipped for
longer flights out of the country and is more
than just an airport. There are conference
rooms, hotel arrangements, catering, and more
for people conducting business in the area or
just passing through. Within a 15 minute drive
of Cabarrus County is the Charlotte/Douglas
International Airport, which conducts
international flights with several different
airline companies.
 The Amtrak station and Concord Kannapolis Area
Transit are convenient ways to get around in
Cabarrus County. The Concord Kannapolis Area
Transit program is called “Riders” and provides
transportation all over the area at affordable
fares. The program will even make specific trips
for people with disabilities. The Amtrak station
is located in downtown Kannapolis and offers
rail travel around the nation.
One
of the largest attractions in Cabarrus County is
the Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Built in 1959 and
located in Concord, the Lowe’s Motor Speedway is
one of the largest racetracks for NASCAR. The Lowe’s
Motor Speedway is home to the Bank of America
500, formerly the Coca-Cola 500, along with a
few races in the Busch Series and the Craftsman
Truck Series, he Richard Petty Driving
Experience, and the Fast Track High Performance
Driving School. The Lowe’s Motor Speedway is one
of Cabarrus County’s claims to fame.
 Concord Mills, also located in the Concord area
of Cabarrus County, is one of the largest malls
in the Southeast. It covers over 1 million
square feet, and contains over 200 stores from
outlets, to retailers, to boutiques. Also
located in Concord Mills is the AMC Theatre 24,
the NASCAR SpeedPark, a Bass Pro Shop, and even
a Ralph Lauren Factory Store. Regular hours for
Concord Mills are Monday through Saturday 10
am to 9:30 pm and Sunday 11 am to 7 pm.
